About SpawnGraph

What SpawnGraph is

SpawnGraph is a browser-native mind mapping tool. You drop text, a URL, a PDF, or any of 93+ file types into the canvas and SpawnGraph structures it into an editable mind map in seconds. From there you can rearrange, recolor, annotate, collaborate with teammates in real time, and export to PNG, outline, CSV, or YAML.

The structuring step uses browser-native NLP — natural language processing that runs in your browser tab. Not language-model APIs. Not GPT. Not a server-side model. We pick browser-native NLP deliberately because it is verifiable: you can open DevTools → Network during a generation and confirm there are zero outbound calls. Cloud-based tools require you to trust their privacy policy. With SpawnGraph, you can check the network tab.

SpawnGraph is free for individuals on the free plan. Solo Pro and Premium plans add capacity (more boards, more exports, more collaborators) and per-seat billing for teams. The core mind-mapping capability is permanent free.

Why we built it

The mind mapping space has three persistent problems: AI tools price-gate basic generation behind usage credits because server-side models are expensive to run; cloud tools upload your content to their servers and ask you to trust their privacy policy; and traditional tools require you to build every map manually, which is slow when your source content already exists as a document. SpawnGraph solves all three at the same time. NLP in the browser is free at the margin and private by construction, and automatic import from text, URLs, PDFs, and files removes the manual layout step.

Technical philosophy

Client-side processing is a product value here, not just an architecture choice. It is the reason the free tier is permanent (no per-generation server cost to recoup), the reason confidential documents are safe to import (the bytes do not leave your device), and the reason the tool works offline once loaded (no remote model dependency). The few features that genuinely need a server — URL fetching, real-time collaboration sync, persistent cross-device storage — are server-assisted in the narrowest possible scope, with no logging or retention of your content beyond what is strictly necessary to deliver the feature.

What SpawnGraph is not

SpawnGraph is not an AI summariser — generation is NLP-based, not a language model rewriting your text. It is not a note-taking app — Notion, Obsidian, and Apple Notes already do that well; SpawnGraph reads their outputs and visualises them. It is not a general whiteboard — Miro and FigJam cover that space, and SpawnGraph stays focused on mind mapping specifically. The scope is narrow on purpose: do one thing well, and integrate cleanly with the tools that do the adjacent things.
